H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, emphasized the UAE's strengthened position in global philanthropy and humanitarian work. This achievement, he noted, is attributed to the visionary leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose commitment to development initiatives benefits communities worldwide.

In a statement made in conjunction with the International Day of Charity, observed annually on September 5th, Sheikh Nahyan underscored that the values of philanthropy and humanitarianism are deeply embedded in the UAE's culture. These principles were instilled by the nation's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and have been perpetuated by the UAE's charitable institutions.
Sheikh Nahyan praised the efforts of UAE's charitable organizations, which have significantly bolstered the nation's international reputation for both relief and development work over recent decades. He highlighted ongoing projects by the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation aimed at making philanthropy a cornerstone of sustainable development and ensuring a better future for upcoming generations.
Among these initiatives, the Foundation is spearheading the establishment of a rehabilitation center for individuals with disabilities in Kazakhstan. This center will support 5,550 children with physical disabilities, including those with mobility challenges, cerebral palsy, and neurological disorders. The project is anticipated to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.
Additionally, the Foundation is constructing two schools in Tajikistan—one in the village of Mahtar Danghara and another in the Timur Maliq district. Each school is designed to accommodate 144 students and is expected to be finished by the end of 2025.
Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Director-General of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, commented on the evolution of the UAE's charitable sector. Under the nation's wise leadership, he noted, the sector has optimized its resources to support a broad spectrum of philanthropic and development projects, benefiting millions across various communities and countries.
Al Falahi further emphasized that charitable and humanitarian endeavors have become synonymous with the UAE and its people. Thanks to the country's prudent policies and the enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed, the scope and impact of these efforts have continued to grow.
The Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation will mark the International Day of Charity by celebrating 32 years of global philanthropy. Since its inception in 1992, the Foundation has assisted in over 188 countries worldwide. In the first eight months of 2024 alone, its programs and projects have benefitted approximately 1.1 million individuals both within the UAE and internationally. These efforts include educational support, health assistance, Iftar programs, winter relief, Eid sacrifices, Ramadan food parcels, debt relief for women, and various other initiatives.
