UAE Accounts for 30% of Middle Eastern Cinema Market Share

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Media Council has reported that the country's cinema sector generated an impressive revenue of Dh517 million during the first eight months of this year, drawing approximately 11 million visits to cinemas across the nation. This notable surge highlights the increasing public interest in cinematic experiences and reflects the audience's confidence in the world-class entertainment available in the UAE.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized that the UAE now holds a significant 30 percent of the Middle Eastern cinema market share, reinforcing the nation’s leadership in this vital industry. This achievement is largely attributed to ongoing investments in cinema infrastructure and strategic partnerships with major global film studios, further enhancing the UAE's reputation as a global cinema hub.

"The UAE Media Council is dedicated to increasing the media economy's contribution to the local economy by implementing supportive policies and providing innovative services to filmmakers," stated Al Shehhi. He highlighted that this approach aims to create a competitive environment that fosters sustainable growth within the media sector.

The UAE's cinema landscape boasts 702 screens across 72 locations in various emirates, demonstrating the country's commitment to providing a wide array of cinematic experiences to its residents and visitors alike.
