ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is becoming one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. With its pleasant winter weather, stunning landscapes, and exciting attractions, more and more tourists are choosing the UAE for their vacations. Unlike many countries that experience freezing temperatures during winter, the UAE offers warm sunshine and a variety of outdoor activities, making it a favorite spot for travelers.
The UAE has big plans for the future of its tourism industry. As part of its Tourism Strategy 2031, the country aims to attract AED100 billion in tourism investments and welcome 40 million hotel guests. These efforts are helping the UAE grow into a global tourism hub.
UAE Leads the Middle East in Tourism Revenue
According to the 2024 Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) by the World Economic Forum, the UAE ranked first in the Middle East and 18th globally—moving up seven places from the previous report. The UAE is also the only Middle Eastern country in the world’s top 10 nations for international tourism revenue.

Why Winter is the Best Time to Visit the UAE
Winter is the peak season for tourism in the UAE. The country offers a mix of activities for all kinds of travelers—whether they enjoy adventure, shopping, nature, or business trips. The UAE has breathtaking landscapes, including mountains, deserts, coastlines, and natural reserves, providing unique experiences for tourists.
To promote tourism, the UAE recently launched the fifth edition of its popular campaign, World’s Coolest Winter. This campaign highlights the country’s beautiful locations, rich culture, and exciting tourism experiences. It invites both residents and international travelers to explore the UAE’s best attractions.
Exciting Activities for Tourists
The UAE’s mild winter climate makes it an ideal place for outdoor adventures. Tourists can enjoy activities such as:
Desert safaris
Mountain hiking and camping
Exploring wadis (valleys) and nature reserves
Rock climbing, rappelling, and paragliding
Camel riding and traditional desert camping
Sailing and water sports
Visiting historical sites like the Dubai Museum
One of the most special experiences in the UAE is stargazing. The country’s clear desert skies provide the perfect view of the stars, making it a great destination for astronomy lovers.
A Tourist’s Experience in the UAE
Liam Andrew, a tourist from Denmark, shared his thoughts about his winter trip to the UAE. He described his experience as “truly exceptional”, saying he was amazed by the country’s beauty and charm.
“We had an amazing time exploring the UAE’s diverse landscapes, from majestic mountains and golden sand dunes to beautiful beaches and historic sites. My wife, Emma, and I enjoyed activities like hiking, desert safaris, camping, and sailing. We also visited traditional markets, where the scent of incense filled the air, and we saw incredible handmade crafts that reflect the UAE’s rich heritage.”
The UAE’s efforts to improve its infrastructure, services, and tourism campaigns have made it one of the best places to visit in winter. With its perfect weather, exciting adventures, and rich cultural experiences, the country continues to attract millions of visitors every year.
