Swiatek played very well, focusing on Raducanu’s backhand and taking advantage of Raducanu’s second serve. Swiatek won the last 11 games of the match, showing how strong she was. After the match, Swiatek said, “I just enjoyed playing, and some shots I made were exactly what I had practiced for."
This win means Swiatek has beaten Raducanu four times. She broke Raducanu’s serve five times out of 12 chances. Raducanu didn’t have any chances to break Swiatek’s serve during the whole match. Swiatek played with great confidence and showed her skills.
So far in this year’s Australian Open, Swiatek hasn’t lost a set. Her best performance in Melbourne was reaching the semi-finals in 2022. Next, she will play either Eva Lys or Jaqueline Cristian in the fourth round.
Swiatek also said that the warmer weather, with temperatures reaching around 31°C (88°F), helped her feel good on the court. She said, “It helps, but you have to keep control. In tennis, adjusting to the weather is important, and I felt I was playing well.”
On the same day, 20-year-old American Alex Michelsen had a big win. He beat Karen Khachanov, who reached the semi-finals last year, with a score of 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-2. Michelsen was down 3-0 in the second set but came back strong to win. He joined Tommy Paul, another American player, in the fourth round.
Eighth seed Emma Navarro also made it to the fourth round after a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over Ons Jabeur from Tunisia.
Later in the day, Jannik Sinner, the number one seed in the men’s bracket, continued his defense of the title against Marcos Giron. In the women’s draw, Danielle Collins played Madison Keys in an all-American match.
