On Thursday evening, just after 6 p.m. PDT, SpaceX launched 27 Starlink internet satellites into low-Earth orbit using its Falcon 9 rocket. The launch took place from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Even though the sky was mostly cloudy, there were patches of blue sky visible during the liftoff.
This mission marked the fifth time that the same first-stage booster was used. After the rocket separated from its upper part (which carried the satellites), the booster safely landed on the droneship named Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean. About eight minutes after liftoff, the upper part of the rocket released the satellites into orbit.

This launch was SpaceX’s 25th mission of the year 2025.
The Starlink satellite launches have been going well for SpaceX, especially at a time when the company has faced problems with its bigger rocket, Starship. The last two Starship test flights both ended in explosions.
The 7th Starship test flight exploded on January 16 over the North Atlantic Ocean, near Turks and Caicos. SpaceX later said the reason for the explosion was a leak in the propellant system.
Another Starship, Flight 8, also failed during its test on March 6. It broke apart off the coast of Florida after launching from SpaceX’s Starbase in south Texas. The falling debris even caused a short pause in commercial flights at Orlando International Airport.
Despite these setbacks, the Starship program is being used to test how the company’s future, larger satellites will be sent into space. These test flights are helping SpaceX prepare for a major expansion of its Starlink internet network.
The successful Starlink missions are giving SpaceX some positive progress while it continues to work on improving the Starship program.
