SEEING RED: Visual Richness in Contemporary Art and Bold Celebration of Emotion

Post by: Elena Malik

Dubai: The Seeing RED Art Exhibition, held at Mehromah Art House Gallery in Dubai from April 12 to 18, 2025, was a vibrant and unforgettable display of contemporary art centered around one powerful theme – the colour RED. This unique exhibition brought together 45 thought-provoking artworks created by 30 talented artists from various backgrounds, all using red to express deep emotions, strong messages, and artistic freedom.

Red is more than just a colour. It represents passion, love, strength, danger, fire, anger, energy, and courage. Whether it’s scarlet, crimson, maroon, vermilion, berry, ruby, rose, burgundy, carmine, brick, or cerise, red has the ability to instantly grab attention and make a statement. This exhibition celebrated the many forms of red – from bold and powerful to soft and emotional – through paintings that spoke directly to the viewer’s heart.

From figurative and abstract works to conceptual and mixed-media art, the exhibition showed how red can transform a canvas into a story. Each artist interpreted the theme in their own personal way, creating a rich and colourful dialogue on identity, culture, womanhood, spirituality, inner strength, and more.Curated by Jesno Jackson, founder of Art4you Gallery, the exhibition was carefully planned to allow the colour red to take center stage. Jesno, a seasoned curator and artist herself, believes red is one of the most expressive colours in the palette.

“Red has the power to speak without words. It holds passion, love, courage, anger, and truth. Through Seeing RED, I wanted to give artists the freedom to go bold and honest, to share their fire with the world,” says Jesno. Her curatorial eye brought together artworks that were not only visually striking but also carried strong emotional and cultural depth.
