Manish Malhotra Designs Uniforms for Air India Cabin Crew & Pilot

On December 12, Air India unveiled new uniforms for its cabin crew and pilots, designed by renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra. The female cabin crew will wear ombre sarees with a modern touch, featuring intricate jharokha patterns and the new Air India logo icon, Vista. The sarees, available in different color schemes, can be optionally worn with comfortable pants, offering flexibility for the crew.

The cockpit crew's uniform is a classic black double-breasted suit with a print inspired by the Vista. The designs will be introduced gradually over the next few months, starting with the entry of Air India's first Airbus A350 into service.

Manish Malhotra aimed to capture the essence of India's diverse culture and traditions while infusing a modern and sophisticated look into the uniforms. The attire includes matching accessories like dual-tone block heels for women and comfortable black brogues for men. Pearl earrings and sling bags are part of the ensemble for female cabin crew.

The designer expressed his honor and privilege in contributing to Air India's national identity and showcasing the elegance of Indian fashion. Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, stated that Manish Malhotra's designs perfectly capture the airline's new identity, service principles, and commitment to setting new benchmarks in global aviation.

The uniforms for ground staff, engineers, and security personnel, also designed by Manish Malhotra, are yet to be unveiled.

This unveiling marks a significant chapter in Air India's history, with the hope that the innovative ensemble will contribute to the airline's future narrative, building on the legacy of its storied crew uniforms.
