London Pro-Palestine March Draws Thousands, 12 Arrests Made

Post by: Dr. Amrinder Pal Singh

Tens of thousands joined a pro-Palestinian march in London on Saturday, resulting in 12 arrests by the Metropolitan Police. Offenses included inciting racial hatred and assaulting emergency workers. Protesters, gathered at Park Lane, demanded a "ceasefire now" and chanted "free Palestine."

John Rees from Stop the War Coalition expressed concern, saying, "People are very, very concerned that there's going to be a disaster piled upon an already existing disaster in Rafah." He hopes to avert a permanent tragedy.

Among the arrests, two individuals displayed anti-Semitic placards. Police reported, "A man was seen in the crowd with an anti-Semitic placard. When officers went in to arrest him, they were assaulted, resulting in six arrests."

Two others were arrested for refusing to remove face coverings, and one person faced charges related to support for a proscribed organization linked to a placard.

Pro-Palestinian marches have become a regular Saturday feature in London since Israel's military response to Hamas' attack on October 7. Israel reports civilian deaths and hostages, while Gaza reports thousands killed, mostly women and children
