NEW YORK — For his New York Fashion Week show on Sunday night, Tommy Hilfiger combined his love for New York City, a nautical theme, and a surprise musical finale, all aboard a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry boat. This creative presentation featured a lively runway show set against the backdrop of the former ferry, adding a unique maritime twist to the event.
The venue, the John F. Kennedy, was a former Staten Island Ferry that had been decommissioned in 2021. It was purchased the following year by a group of investors, including actor-comedian Pete Davidson and “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost. Jost, who had ridden the ferry daily during his high school years, expressed his excitement at seeing the boat repurposed for such a memorable event. "It’s pretty crazy," he remarked, reflecting on the nostalgic significance of the ferry and its new role.
Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 collection was a celebration of nautical style, featuring stripes inspired by sailing heritage, capri pants, oversized knits, varsity jackets, trench coats, club blazers, and polos. The collection was complemented by accessories like bandanas, embodying a fusion of vibrant Ivy League aesthetics with coastal functionality. The designer aimed to showcase his vision of modern American prep through this thematic presentation.

Adding to the evening's allure was a special musical performance featuring Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan, who performed live on the ferry. The performance, curated by Questlove, included a dynamic rap segment that wove through the runways and seating areas, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
Guests were treated to an array of refreshments, including Champagne, beer, hot dogs, soft pretzels, and custom caramel corn boxes adorned with Hilfiger logos and Statue of Liberty pins.
Brooke Shields, in attendance, was particularly emotional as her daughter, Grier, made her debut on the runway. Shields, moved by the occasion, shared her pride and excitement about her daughter's first fashion week show.
Among the attendees were actors Shay Mitchell and Madelyn Cline, who praised the collection. Mitchell described the pieces as "incredible," highlighting the exceptional quality of the accessories and the overall presentation.
The show was not only a testament to Hilfiger's ability to merge fashion with New York City's rich cultural backdrop but also a celebration of maritime heritage through a strikingly original setting
