The Festival is set in the beautiful Hatta mountains, making it the perfect place to have fun and enjoy the nice weather. People are celebrating the community spirit and taking part in many activities. This year, the number of workshops has increased by 40%, going up from 100 workshops in the last edition to 140.
Mahra Alyouha, part of the organizing team for the Hatta Winter Festival, said that the workshops are one of the main parts of the Festival. They give everyone a chance to interact and learn new things. No matter how old you are or what your interests are, there is something for everyone. She also explained that after seeing so much interest in workshops last year, the team decided to add more this year, offering workshops in many different creative areas like art and culture, as well as sessions to help people improve their skills.
There are many different types of creative workshops. The Swing House teaches people how to embroider tote bags. In partnership with MOFUN, the Festival has workshops for learning mirror engraving and felting embroidery. Children can enjoy making jewellery boxes or painting wood and mirrors with Shaikha Obaid from NSSFMA. Another workshop by The Embroidery House focuses on using felting needles to create beautiful pieces.
Alya Lootah and Nora Kalban from Medaf are holding painting workshops that teach how to use seashells and canvas to create unique artwork. Other workshops include glass painting, cake decoration, Islamic geometric designs on metal, wax painting, and fabric bag painting. There are also workshops where Aisha Johar teaches how to paint cups, Shaikha Mohammed shows different embroidery techniques, and Shaikha Al-Maqbali demonstrates how to use beads creatively.
For kids, the Festival has plenty of fun activities. Brand Dubai, working with ‘MOFUN,’ has special workshops for children. These include painting on tote bags, decorating plant pots, acrylic painting on 3D models, and making accessories using paracord ropes. Kids can also enjoy decorating mirrors with clay.
The Swing House offers workshops for children in many creative areas, like pillow embroidery, clay modelling, mosaic designs inspired by the Hatta mountains, and fabric designs on clothes. There are also jewellery and bead design workshops to keep kids busy and creative.
The Hatta Winter Festival has something for everyone, from kids to adults, with a long list of workshops and activities that inspire creativity. The beautiful natural setting of Hatta makes it a perfect place to enjoy these hands-on learning experiences, and the Festival is a great way for visitors to explore Emirati culture and have fun at the same time.
