A massive three-alarm fire broke out in Newark, New Jersey, on Tuesday, sending plumes of thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The fire started around 5:21 p.m. local time at the intersection of Montgomery Avenue and Avon Avenue, quickly spreading to multiple homes.

By 5:45 p.m., fire officials confirmed that at least four homes were engulfed in flames, prompting a swift response from firefighters who are working diligently to contain the blaze. As the fire continues to spread, nearby homes are being evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Firefighters are facing significant challenges, including low water pressure due to at least one non-functional hydrant, which has complicated efforts to control the flames. The fire was initially attacked from the outside, with officials noting that gusty winds of up to 20 mph and dry air conditions are exacerbating the situation.

In addition to the homes, multiple trees in the vicinity have caught fire, and a car parked in a driveway has also ignited. Fortunately, as of the latest reports, no injuries have been reported. Fire crews remain on the scene, working tirelessly to prevent further spread and ensure the safety of residents in the area.
