Family of Four Dies as SUV Falls into Pond from Narrow Bridge in Bihar

Post by: Raman Preet

Gaya, Bihar: In a heart-breaking accident, four members of a family lost their lives when their SUV fell into a pond near Dakhingaon Bridge in Gaya district. The incident happened around midnight on Monday.

According to the police, the family was returning home from a Shraddha Karma ceremony in Bihar Sharif. They were traveling in a Scorpio SUV when the driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing a narrow bridge near Dakhingaon.

The SUV skidded off the road and went straight into a pond. The driver, identified as Sintu, somehow managed to get out of the sinking vehicle and shouted for help.

A nearby hotel staff member heard his cries and quickly informed the local villagers and police. Soon, the police reached the spot with the help of villagers. A JCB machine was used to pull the vehicle out of the water.

Sadly, by the time the SUV was taken out, the four passengers inside had already passed away.

The victims have been identified as Shashikant Sharma, aged 43, a respected farmer from Sahawajpur village, his wife Rinki Devi (40), and their two sons, Sumit Anand (17) and Balkrishna (5).

The entire village of Sahawajpur is in shock. Shashikant was well-known and respected in the area. His elder son, Sumit Anand, was also active in local BJP youth politics.

The sorrow in the village deepened when people heard that Shashikant’s elderly mother collapsed after hearing the tragic news. She is said to be in a critical condition.

One villager sadly remarked, “When no one is left in the family, what is the use of a post-mortem?”

Officials from the local administration have visited the site of the accident. They have promised to investigate what went wrong.

Early reports suggest that the accident may have happened because of poor visibility and the narrowness of the bridge. The road did not have enough lights, making it more dangerous at night.

This tragic event has once again shown how important it is to improve road safety in rural areas, especially on narrow bridges and roads that don’t have proper lighting
