Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) has unveiled its ambitious plans aimed at enhancing the exhibitions industry and bolstering Sharjah's economy. During a recent meeting chaired by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Expo Center Sharjah, the strategic objectives were presented to the ECS Board of Directors.
The plans encompass a wide array of initiatives, including increasing operational capacities, enhancing exhibition areas and venues, attracting a broader range of international exhibitors, and curating new high-caliber exhibitions, particularly in the automotive sector. These efforts are geared towards promoting Sharjah's business tourism potential and fostering growth across various sectors.

Sheikh Majid bin Faisal Al Qasimi, First Deputy Chairman of SCCI, was also present at the meeting, alongside other key stakeholders and officials, including Walid Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Deputy Chairman of SCCI, and Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah.
The meeting not only delved into future plans but also analyzed Expo Sharjah's revenue performance for 2023, which showcased a significant increase compared to the previous year. With approximately 50 exhibitions and over 2.5 million visitors, both local and international events witnessed notable growth. Moreover, plans for specialized exhibitions in various industries for the first quarter of 2024 were discussed.
Discussions also revolved around streamlining operational workflows, advancing the role of ECS in economic growth and promotion of local products, and supporting small- and medium-sized business owners in the exhibitions industry. Insights from recent platforms such as the "Emirates Perfumes and Oud" and "Jewels of Emirates" during key exhibitions provided valuable input for future strategies.
Abdullah Sultan Al Owais highlighted the pivotal role of Expo Center Sharjah in achieving the strategic goal of economic diversification for Sharjah. He emphasized the center's success in attracting domestic and foreign guests, solidifying its status as a leading business hub.
Saif Mohammed Al Midfa reiterated the significance of the exhibition industry in economic development and expressed optimism about Expo Center Sharjah's future prospects. Notable achievements and events in the ECS Calendar of Events for 2024, including the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition – ACRES 2024 and the Watch & Jewellery Middle East Show, were discussed, alongside preliminary findings from the Ramadan Nights Exhibition.
Overall, Expo Centre Sharjah's forward-looking approach and commitment to excellence underscore its pivotal role in driving economic growth, promoting entrepreneurship, and positioning Sharjah as a global business destination.
