Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced the first Dubai Sculpture Symposium 2024. This event will show how sculptures can make Dubai look better. It is part of a plan to turn Dubai into an open-air museum and a center for art and creativity.
The event is happening at the Al Shindagha Historic District and will run until December 22, 2024. It will support local sculptors and bring new ideas to the art world. Artists from Dubai and other countries will meet to share their skills and learn different ways of making sculptures. This event will help people understand how sculptures can improve culture and creativity in the city.

The Dubai Sculpture Symposium 2024 is part of Dubai’s plan to improve life in the city. It will have 15 famous sculptors from the UAE, the Gulf, and other countries. Artists like Azza Al Qubaisi from the UAE, Aktham Abdul Hamid from Syria, Georgi Minchev from Bulgaria, and Liu Yang from China will show their work and different ways of making sculptures.
The event will have live sculpting shows and talks. On December 7, the talks will be about "The Evolution of Public Art: Sculptures in Urban Spaces" and "Sculpture as Cultural Storytelling." On December 14, the talks will be about "Sculpting for the Environment: Sustainability in Public Art" and "Interactive Sculpture: Engaging Communities Through Art." On December 21, the talks will be about "Mastering Monumental Sculptures: Challenges and Techniques" and "Public Sculpture and Youth Engagement: Inspiring the Next Generation of Artists."
Dr. Saeed bin Mubarak Kharbash, CEO of Dubai Culture, said Dubai is becoming a place for creativity in many types of art. He also said that Dubai has always helped connect different cultures through art events. Dr. Kharbash said, "The Dubai Sculpture Symposium is special because it shows how sculpture can express creativity. It reflects the true spirit of different communities. By bringing together talented sculptors, the event lets them share ideas and show their work that inspires people. It also helps local artists grow the cultural and creative industries, which is a goal for Dubai Culture."
The event will not be open to children for safety reasons. It will also honor artists who have made important contributions to art.
The event is organized by the Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children, in partnership with Al Shindagha Museum, Sikka Platform, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police, Dubai Ambulance, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Customs, and the International Centre for Culinary Arts (ICCA Dubai).
