The Events Security Committee in Dubai has announced its thorough preparations to ensure safety and security during the 2025 New Year’s Eve celebrations. This plan builds on the success of last year’s efforts and aims to make this year’s celebrations even better and safer for everyone.

Dubai will be divided into four operational zones—North, Central, West, and Maritime. This division will help streamline safety measures and improve public services with the help of strategic partners. Special arrangements have been made for workers, with dedicated viewing areas set up by the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs. These areas will have large screens and meal services, allowing workers to enjoy the fireworks safely and comfortably without having to travel to crowded locations.

Overview of the Celebrations

The 2025 New Year’s Eve festivities in Dubai will feature fireworks displays at 36 different locations. Major sites include Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, Al Marmoom Oasis, Expo City, Dubai Frame, and Dubai Design District. These events are designed to offer something for everyone across the city.

To ensure public safety, Dubai Police will deploy 8,530 officers and 1,145 patrols. They will also have 33 marine rescue boats, Civil Defence vehicles, ambulances, and six mobile operation rooms monitoring activities across the emirate. Additionally, tents will be set up in Downtown Dubai to provide services like lost and found, first aid, and assistance for lost children.

Announcement of the Security Plan

Dubai officials announced detailed security, organizational, and service plans during a press conference at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City. The event was attended by top officials, including Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs; Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations and Chair of the Events Security Committee; and representatives from 55 government and private organizations.

Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri praised the teamwork among the 55 entities involved. He explained that the operational zones—North, Central, West, and Maritime—will help ensure a smooth flow of events, as was successfully demonstrated last year.

Traffic and Public Transport

Hussain Al Banna from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) detailed the transport plan for the celebrations, especially for the Burj Khalifa area. Key road closures include:

  • Al Asayel Street, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, and Financial Centre Streets starting at 4:00 PM.
  • Guests with bookings in these areas must arrive before 4:00 PM.

The Dubai Metro will run continuously for 43 hours, from 5:00 AM on December 31, 2024, to midnight on January 1, 2025. Shuttle buses will transport visitors to key locations, with 260 buses in operation and additional parking spaces provided at Al Wasl Club and Al Jaffiliya.

Municipality Measures

Dubai Municipality will deploy 2,776 staff, including 242 supervisors, to maintain public health and cleanliness. This includes food safety inspections at event locations and lifeguard services at beaches. Waste management teams will work round the clock to keep the city clean during and after the celebrations.

Civil Defence and Ambulance Services

Dubai Civil Defence will have 1,097 firefighters and 123 advanced vehicles stationed across five sectors. Safety messages will be sent to attendees via SMS, and the public is urged to follow safety guidelines.

Dubai Ambulance will have 224 emergency points and 593 paramedics ready to assist. This includes seven ambulances stationed at Dubai Mall and additional teams near Burj Khalifa. A volunteer program involving 42 trained individuals will help handle minor medical cases.

Healthcare Support

Dubai Health has set up a fully equipped field hospital in the Burj Khalifa area, along with seven medical points within the celebration zone. Six hospitals and four outpatient clinics will remain on high alert for emergencies. Home care and telemedicine services will also be available through the call center at 80060.

A Call for Public Cooperation

His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri emphasized the importance of public cooperation during the celebrations. He urged everyone to follow traffic guidelines, report emergencies via 999, and avoid congested areas for a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve.

Dubai’s comprehensive plans reflect its status as a global leader in hosting large-scale events. With extensive measures in place, the city is ready to ring in 2025 safely and spectacularly.
