Dubai Municipality has initiated an intensive monitoring program to guarantee public health and food safety during the holy month of Ramadan. Part of the project involves field monitoring in different facilities to maintain maximum safety levels for food handling as well as for hygiene.
Authorities are carrying out comprehensive checks in markets, malls, restaurants, bakeries, hypermarkets, food warehouses, hotels, cafes, beauty centers, gaming zones, and labor accommodations. The checks ensure that all establishments meet health and food safety standards. Dubai Municipality has also stepped up food safety checks at ports of entry, thoroughly inspecting and testing imported food consignments. High-consumption Ramadan items receive special attention to ensure their quality and safety before they are available to consumers.

As part of its initiative, the Municipality has granted permits to more than 100 licensed outlets with Ramadan tents and outdoor activities. The venues are required to adhere to stringent public health and safety standards. In addition to inspections, Dubai Municipality is also conducting awareness programs and workshops to train businesses and individuals on proper food storage and preparation, minimizing food wastage, maintaining high-quality meat, and adhering to occupational safety levels.
Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafee, Acting CEO of Dubai Municipality's Environment, Health, and Safety Agency, highlighted the city's dedication to safeguarding public health during Ramadan. He asserted that the Municipality is making concerted efforts across major sectors to uphold the highest levels of food safety and public health. The efforts are directed towards ensuring all residents have access to safe, high-quality food while avoiding any possible health risks. The emphasis is not just on food safety but also on enhancing occupational safety and overall quality of life for the community.
In addition to food safety, the Municipality has increased monitoring in other areas such as environmental health, occupational safety, product safety, and residential housing standards. Officials are closely inspecting imported consumer products, including tobacco, smoking-related items, perfumes, and incense, to ensure they meet Dubai’s regulatory standards before being sold in malls and shops.
Dubai Municipality also increased its readiness for operations in major service fields, sending staff to high-traffic visitor sites, including veterinary quarantine facilities and livestock markets. To avert pest-borne health hazards, the Municipality has heightened control activities at Ramadan tent complexes and livestock markets. Public awareness campaigns are underway to inform residents on preventive steps for minimizing pest dispersal.
Residents are also encouraged to utilize Dubai Municipality's smart services, including the Dubai Abattoirs mobile app, which ensures secure and effective access to services. In cases of any issues or complaints regarding food safety, public health, or safety codes, residents can call Dubai Municipality's 24-hour call center at 800900 during Ramadan.
