Cynthia Erivo misses EGOT title after Oscars 2025 loss; full details

Cynthia Erivo did not win the Best Actress award at the 97th Academy Awards. The Oscar went to Mikey Madison for her role in Anora. If Cynthia had won, she would have become the youngest person to win all four big awards – Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. She was hoping to achieve this rare honor at the age of 38. This was not Cynthia’s first time at the Oscars. In 2019, she was nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Song for her work in Harriet. That year, she lost the Best Actress award to Renée Zellweger, who won for Judy. Her song Stand Up was also nominated for Best Song but lost to I’m Gonna Love Me Again by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Even though she did not win, her song became very popular and showed her great talent in both singing and acting.

Cynthia is already very close to an EGOT. She has won three of the four important awards. In 2016, she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for The Color Purple.
