Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for a busy winter holiday season, expecting more than 5.2 million passengers between December 13 and December 31. The airport anticipates that the daily number of passengers will average around 274,000. However, the busiest day is expected to be Friday, December 20, when nearly 296,000 people are expected to pass through the airport. The weekend from December 20 to 22 will also see a high number of travellers, with an estimated 880,000 guests. Of these, about 1.7 million will be arriving in Dubai, while 1.5 million will be departing, showing Dubai’s increasing popularity as a top international travel destination.
To make the travel experience as smooth as possible, Dubai Airport has shared several travel tips. Emirates passengers can take advantage of home check-in, early check-in, and city check-in services to save time. For other airlines, it is recommended to arrive no earlier than three hours before departure to avoid waiting too long at the airport.
To save time at security, passengers are advised to place metal items and electronics in their hand luggage. Also, passengers should be mindful of liquid, aerosol, and gel regulations. Items such as power banks, portable electronic devices, and spare batteries are not allowed in checked luggage and should be carried in hand luggage.

Families travelling with children over the age of 12 can use the Smart Gates to speed up the passport control process. It is also important for passengers to plan ahead by organizing their travel documents, checking baggage allowances, and familiarizing themselves with their airline’s rules to avoid any last-minute surprises.
To avoid congestion, passengers are encouraged to use the Dubai Metro to travel to and from Terminals 1 and 3, as this will be a more efficient option. During peak periods, only passengers will be allowed inside the terminals, so it is recommended to say goodbye to loved ones at home before heading to the airport.
These preparations highlight Dubai International Airport's commitment to ensuring a smooth experience for travellers and maintaining its position as the world’s busiest international airport. With careful planning and adherence to these guidelines, passengers can look forward to a more comfortable journey during the busy winter season.
