Bollywood actress and environmentalist Dia Mirza is standing strong with students who are protesting against the government's plan to build IT parks on 400 acres of forest land in Kancha Gachibowli, Hyderabad. She recently responded to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who had accused her of sharing fake AI-generated images and videos related to the protest.
The Chief Minister said that some pictures and videos being shared online to support the protest were created using artificial intelligence (AI). He also ordered officials to file a case in court for a detailed investigation.

Dia Mirza, who is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), replied to these claims on X (formerly Twitter). She said she never shared any fake or AI-generated images.
“The Chief Minister said that I shared fake AI images. That is not true. I have not posted any AI-created photo or video. Before saying such things, the media and government should check the facts,” Dia wrote.
Dia was born in Hyderabad and has always spoken up for nature and the environment. In her post, she also supported the students of Hyderabad Central University (HCU), who have been leading the protest. She wrote,
“Students are speaking up for a better future, where nature is protected. Forests, not IT parks, give young people a chance at a sustainable life. Destroying nature in the name of development is not right. Save Kancha Forest in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.”
What’s Happening in Hyderabad?
Students, environmentalists, and some opposition leaders are protesting against the government's decision to remove trees and rocks in the Kancha forest area to make space for IT parks.
Last week, bulldozers and earthmovers sent by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIDC) started clearing the forest land. Some students tried to stop this work and were arrested. However, all except two were later released.
The state government says that they want to build IT parks to create jobs for young people and help their future. But the protestors believe that destroying forests will harm the environment and wildlife.
Dia’s Latest Film
On the work front, Dia Mirza was recently seen in the movie "Nadaaniyan", which also featured Ibrahim Ali Khan (Saif Ali Khan’s son) and Khushi Kapoor.
In short, this is a fight between saving nature and building new projects. While the government is thinking about jobs and development, people like Dia Mirza and the students are asking: Can’t we find a way to grow without harming the environment?
