The Knight Riders set a target of 162 runs. The Warriorz started their chase very well. Johnson Charles and Tom Kohler-Cadmore played aggressively from the start. They hit a lot of runs, with Charles hitting 24 runs in one over. Kohler-Cadmore also played well, scoring 39 runs from just 21 balls. By the end of the powerplay, the Warriorz were on 75/1, which was much faster than needed.
Charles continued to score runs, hitting almost every bowler, including the Knight Riders’ captain, Sunil Narine. Rohan Mustafa was supporting him but was out for 6 runs. The Knight Riders had a chance to get back into the game, but they missed a few chances. Charles was dropped once, and he made the Knight Riders pay by hitting his 50 runs with a beautiful boundary. In the next over, Roston Chase missed a catch, giving both Charles and Jason Roy a second chance.
Charles played some great shots, including one where he scooped the ball for a lovely boundary. He was out for 65 runs, but the Warriorz were still in a good position, needing 16 runs from 24 balls. But things took a sudden turn. The Warriorz lost three quick wickets, and suddenly they were in trouble at 148/6, needing 14 runs from 16 balls.
Then, Ashton Agar stepped up. He stayed calm and hit a big six in the 19th over. He added four more runs, leaving only two runs to win in the final over. Harmeet Singh finished the match for the Warriorz by hitting the first ball of the last over for a four, helping them win by 4 wickets.
Before all this, the Warriorz bowlers started strong. Adam Milne got Andries Gous out for a duck with a great ball. Joe Clarke hit three boundaries off Milne but was out soon after, leaving the Knight Riders at 33/2 after 3 overs.
Roston Chase played well and made a strong partnership with Kyle Mayers, adding 58 runs for the third wicket. But Adam Zampa got the important wicket of Chase, who was out for 28 runs. By the middle of the innings, the Knight Riders had 91/3, with Mayers still batting well.
Mayers scored 56 runs from just 29 balls, but Zampa took his wicket, and the Knight Riders lost another key player. Milne came back to bowl and got Sunil Narine out. Zampa also took Andre Russell’s wicket for just 3 runs. The Warriorz bowlers kept control, and the Knight Riders were left with 130/6 after 16 overs.
This win has put the Sharjah Warriorz in a strong position to move forward in the tournament. Both their batsmen and bowlers played really well.
