South Indian movie star Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13 because of a tragic stampede that happened during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4. The incident led to the death of a 39-year-old woman named Revathi and left her young son in critical condition.
The stampede occurred after Allu Arjun made a surprise appearance at the theatre, which caused a rush of fans eager to see their favourite star. There were no proper crowd control measures in place, and the large crowd quickly turned chaotic. As people rushed to get closer to the actor, there was a surge in the crowd, which led to the woman being suffocated. Despite immediate help from police and hospital staff, Revathi was pronounced dead when she arrived at the hospital. Her son, unfortunately, remains in critical condition.

A few days after the tragic event, Allu Arjun expressed his sorrow and offered financial compensation to the grieving family. He promised to support the mother’s family and help her child with medical costs.
After the stampede, the police started an investigation and filed charges against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the Sandhya Theatre management for causing the stampede. The charges include culpable homicide not amounting to murder, meaning that the incident led to someone's death due to negligence or lack of care, without the intention of murder. The police also said there were no prior plans or arrangements made by the actor’s team or the theatre management to control the large crowd, which left them unprepared for the situation.
As part of the investigation, three staff members from Sandhya Theatre were arrested because they failed to make sure safety measures were in place. The production company behind the movie, Mythri Movie Makers, expressed their condolences to the grieving family and said they would offer support during this difficult time.
Allu Arjun also shared his deep sadness on social media, expressing his grief and offering financial help to the family who lost their loved one.
This incident has raised concerns about safety during public events, especially when there is a huge crowd wanting to see a celebrity. Many are now calling for stricter rules and better planning for crowd control to prevent such tragedies in the future, especially when big stars are involved.
The arrest of Allu Arjun highlights the importance of proper planning and safety measures in public events to avoid any more such accidents.
