The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has started a new campaign called Our Traditions, Our Roots to celebrate the culture of Abu Dhabi. This campaign begins with a short film showing Emirati traditions like poetry, crafts, music, and other cultural activities.
The main goal of this campaign is to help people feel proud of the Emirati culture. It introduces both local people and visitors to the special traditions of the UAE and the values passed down through many generations.

The campaign is part of DCT Abu Dhabi's work to protect and share the culture of Abu Dhabi. They want to keep these traditions safe for future generations.
The campaign starts with a video showing important parts of Emirati heritage. More videos will follow, focusing on things like Talli (a special way of weaving clothes), Al-Ayyala (a dance performed by men and boys), Sadu (weaving done by women in the desert), Al-Taghrooda (a type of poetry), and Falconry (hunting with falcons).
His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, the Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, said that culture is very important because it helps shape a nation’s identity. He said, “Culture is at the heart of everything we do at DCT Abu Dhabi. We show respect for our traditions by caring for our old buildings, cultural places, and holding festivals.”
This campaign wants to share these important Emirati traditions with the world. His Excellency Al Mubarak hopes it will make people in the UAE proud of their culture and help others understand it too.
This campaign also helps Abu Dhabi build understanding between different cultures. Over the years, DCT Abu Dhabi has worked hard to protect and share the culture of the area. Fifteen important traditions from Abu Dhabi have been added to UNESCO’s list of cultural practices.
Our Traditions, Our Roots is part of many efforts to show off Emirati culture. Other events like the Al Hosn Festival, the Maritime Heritage Festival, and the House of Artisans also highlight these traditions. DCT Abu Dhabi also provides learning materials to teach children about the importance of keeping their culture safe.
By sharing these traditions, DCT Abu Dhabi hopes to protect and celebrate the culture of the UAE for many years to come.
