Since the beginning of 2025, a total of 304 projects in the design phase and 81 projects in the construction phase in Abu Dhabi and its surrounding areas have met the Estidama sustainability standards. These projects have been carefully reviewed and approved based on their commitment to environmental and sustainable practices.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has provided details about the Estidama Pearl Rating System, which ranks buildings from one to five pearls. The system evaluates how well a building follows sustainability rules in various areas. These areas include water use, energy efficiency, materials used in construction, and more.
For government-funded projects, it is required that they achieve at least a two-pearl rating. On the other hand, privately funded projects must meet at least a one-pearl rating to be approved for a building permit.
The Estidama system looks at several important areas, called credit categories, to assess the sustainability of a project. These categories include integrated development systems, natural systems, livability of both indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as factors like water usage, energy efficiency, and the types of building materials used.
This system plays a key role in ensuring that buildings and projects in Abu Dhabi are designed with sustainability in mind, which helps protect the environment and make the city more energy-efficient.
