With heavy rain expected until Friday, Saudi Arabia is prepared for thunderstorms.

Saudi Arabia braces itself for another round of heavy rainfall as the Saudi National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts thunderstorms and active winds sweeping across various regions of the kingdom from Saturday onwards. Following recent heavy rains that affected multiple areas, including Riyadh and the Eastern Province, the NCM predicts moderate to heavy rainfall in Jizan, Assir, Al Baha, and other southwestern regions, extending until Friday.

The NCM highlights potential accompanying phenomena such as overflowing floods, hail showers, high waves, and dust-laden winds, prompting the General Directorate of Civil Defence to issue a safety advisory. Residents are cautioned to exercise vigilance, especially in flood-prone areas and wadis, and to refrain from swimming in floodwaters due to associated risks.

To ensure public safety, the directorate urges adherence to safety instructions disseminated through various media and social platforms. Last week's adverse weather conditions led to the suspension of in-person classes in several regions, with areas like Riyadh, Al Qassim, and the Eastern Province transitioning to remote learning. Notably, the Eastern Province witnessed record-breaking rainfall, with 63 mm recorded in a single day, according to official reports from the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.

Monitoring stations across the kingdom reported varying intensities of rainfall from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning in regions spanning Riyadh, Al Qassim, Mecca, Assir, Hail, the Northern Borders, Jizan, Najran, and Al Baha. As Saudi Arabia prepares for another bout of challenging weather, proactive measures and public awareness remain crucial in mitigating potential risks and ensuring the safety of residents.
