The UAE National MMA Championship 3, organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, came to a successful end on Sunday. The event took place over two exciting days at the Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai, with more than 300 athletes, both male and female, from various age groups taking part. This event shows how much mixed martial arts is growing in popularity in the UAE.
On the final day of the championship, there was a great turnout for both the Youth A (16-17 years old) and Adult (18 years and older) categories. The youth competitors showed amazing skill, while the adult matches were packed with intense action that kept the crowd engaged all day.
Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, a board member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and MMA Federation, spoke highly of the event's success. He pointed out the strong attendance and wide participation from clubs and academies across the country. He said, “The UAE National MMA Championship supports the Federation’s goal of growing the number of people practicing the sport, finding new talent, and developing future champions. It also helps to strengthen the presence of mixed martial arts in the local sports scene. The involvement of athletes from different age groups shows our commitment to creating generations of athletes who can compete at the highest level, whether locally, regionally, or internationally.”

Ekonian Andenet, a coach from ADMA Academy, shared his thoughts on the event. He said, “Our team participated with more than 40 athletes. This tournament is important because it brings together top athletes from clubs and academies all over the country. It gives our athletes a chance to test their skills and prove that they can compete at a high level, which helps them prepare for international events.”
One of the standout performers, Saif Al Jneibi from ADMA, took home the gold medal in the Youth Boys / Male / Youth A / Welterweight (-77.1kg) division. He shared his excitement about winning, saying, “I’m happy to be competing in this tournament for the second time. Last time I lost by submission, but I didn’t give up. I trained hard, got support from my family, coach, and teammates, and today I won first place. The matches were tough, and I want to thank the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and MMA Federation for organizing such a great event.”
The championship has proven to be an important milestone for MMA in the UAE, showcasing the growth and excitement of the sport, while preparing athletes for future challenges.
