The United Arab Emirates is spending a lot of money to build new houses for its people. The government wants every Emirati to have a good home to live in. They are working on this at both national and local levels. By the end of 2024, more than 91 out of every 100 Emiratis owned a home. This is one of the highest homeownership rates in the world.

In 2025, which has been named the "Year of Community," many new housing projects started. In January, the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme gave more than AED 1 billion to help over 1,300 citizens get homes. The government plans to help even more people this year. Right now, anyone who applies for a home under this programme gets approval within just two months, which is very fast. Since the programme started in 1999, it has given support to over 90,000 Emiratis, with a total budget of AED 60 billion.
In Abu Dhabi, a large housing package worth AED 6.75 billion was approved. This will help 4,356 Emiratis get new homes. Out of this amount, AED 5.08 billion was given as housing loans to 3,172 people. Also, AED 1.585 billion was used to provide ready-built houses and land to 1,100 citizens. Some people, like senior citizens, low-income retirees, and families of deceased citizens, were also given exemptions from paying back their housing loans. These exemptions totaled AED 94.8 million. Since the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority was created, more than 123,000 housing benefits have been given, worth around AED 168.85 billion.
In February, a new housing project called Al Saad was launched in Al Ain. This project will cost AED 993.7 million and will provide 306 villas for Emirati families. The Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi also started a new "Value Housing Programme." This programme will help improve the housing market, provide better homes for people, and create stronger communities.
Dubai is also working hard to build more houses. The government is spending AED 5.4 billion on new housing projects under the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme. A total of 3,004 new homes will be built for Emiratis in different parts of Dubai. In Latifa City, 1,181 homes will be built for people who got housing loans. In Al Yalayis, 606 new homes will be built. More homes will be built in places like Wadi Al Amardi (432 homes), Al Awir (398 homes), Hatta (1,200 homes), Oud Al Muteena (120 homes), and the countryside of Dubai (67 homes).
In March, Dubai Municipality started the "Home First" programme. This programme aims to make housing better for Emirati families. It includes new rules and housing solutions that will help families feel more stable and comfortable in their homes.
In February 2025, the Sharjah Executive Council approved 2,000 new land grants for Emiratis. Out of these, 1,200 were given for residential land, and 800 were given for investment land. These lands were spread across different parts of Sharjah so that people could build homes or invest for their future.
All these housing projects show that the UAE government cares about its people. They want to make sure every Emirati has a safe, modern, and comfortable home. The leaders of the country are working hard to build better communities where families can live happily.
