UAE Foreign Aid Reaches AED 360 Billion Milestone Since 1971

In 2024, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) showed once again that it is a world leader in helping others. The country believes in working together, supporting those in need, and building peace and growth everywhere. Helping people has been an important part of the UAE’s plans since it was created.

This year, the UAE celebrated its 53rd National Day, called Eid Al Etihad, on December 2nd. On this special day, the country looked back at its history of helping others. Since 1971, the UAE has given over AED 360 billion (around $98 billion) to help countries facing problems like poverty, disasters, and wars. This support has brought hope and help to many people across the world.

Big Projects in 2024

This year, the UAE worked on many important projects to help people and make their lives better:

  • Earth Zayed Philanthropies: This big project was started by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It has AED 20 billion to help people all over the world. The project focuses on making communities stronger, building peace, and giving people a safe and secure life.
  • Mothers’ Endowment Campaign: Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum started this campaign. It has AED 1 billion to help children get a good education. This project, launched during Ramadan, honors mothers as the first and most important teachers for children. It aims to help millions of children around the world learn and grow.
  • Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty: The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan led this project. The UAE promised $100 million to fight hunger and poverty. This shows the UAE's promise to help everyone live better lives.
  • Reaching the Last Mile: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed started this health project. The UAE gave AED 55 million to the Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE). This project helps fight dangerous diseases and improve the health of people in poor countries.

Helping in Emergencies

The UAE was also quick to help people facing big problems and disasters this year:

  • Gaza: The UAE gave medical treatment to 1,000 children who were injured and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza. The country also started the "Birds of Goodness project to send important supplies to Gaza. The UAE gave a $100 million emergency package to support people there.
  • Lebanon: The UAE continued its "UAE Stands with Lebanon" campaign by sending 40 tonnes of medical supplies and a ship with 2,000 tonnes of important goods. The UAE also gave $30 million to help Lebanese people who had to leave their homes and are now living in Syria.
  • Sudan: The UAE promised $100 million to help people in Sudan and nearby countries. It also started projects worth $10.25 million to help women affected by the conflict in Sudan. In addition, the UAE gave $50 million to the Lives and Livelihoods Fund, which helps poor people in many countries.

Helping Many Countries

The UAE did not stop there. It also helped many other countries this year. The country gave aid to places hit by natural disasters, like Burkina Faso, Brazil, the Philippines, Ethiopia, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Whether it was sending food and supplies or helping with long-term plans, the UAE showed its care for people all over the world.

The UAE’s actions show how much it values kindness and generosity. The country works hard to build a peaceful and better future for everyone. By helping others, the UAE proves that it is a true leader in making the world a better place.
