His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), reiterated the university's dedication to prioritising student care as a central element of its educational mission. He emphasised the significance of offering comprehensive support to ensure a distinguished academic experience for students, thereby laying the groundwork for their ongoing learning and development. This was conveyed during his meeting with the new faculty members at the University of Sharjah on Thursday morning. He extended a warm welcome to the attendees, congratulating them on their appointment and wishing them success in contributing to the university's esteemed educational legacy.
During the meeting, His Highness articulated that the role of university professors has evolved beyond traditional teaching. He stated, "The professor's mission is no longer limited to teaching only; it now encompasses guiding students scientifically and assisting them in their knowledge acquisition journey through academic support and participation in research. This comprehensive educational environment will position the University of Sharjah as a gateway for students to engage in community service."

Moreover, Sheikh Sultan underscored the significance of modern teaching methods and tools within the educational framework. He encouraged faculty to understand the diverse thinking styles of contemporary students and to adopt innovative teaching strategies that blend technology with academic content. He highlighted the use of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, to foster creative thinking and encourage active student participation in the learning process.
His Highness also pointed out that the University of Sharjah is committed to enhancing its standing as a premier educational institution through international collaborations and aims for high global rankings. The university is focused on enriching its learning offerings to create an environment that promotes research, innovation, and creativity among its students.
Concluding the meeting, Sheikh Sultan wished all faculty members success and urged them to engage actively in research groups, encouraging, supporting, and involving students in these initiatives to help them hone their scientific research skills.
During the meeting, Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, outlined the university's new strategic plan, which centres around five key areas: Emiratisation, digitisation, digital transformation, international cooperation with scientific institutions, and innovation. He urged the new faculty members to leverage their expertise to contribute to the university's strategic development objectives effectively.
The faculty members expressed their appreciation to His Highness for the resources and support available at the university, which they believe will enable them to fulfil their educational and research missions efficiently.
