A Defence Ministry officer, Jeon Ha-kyu, said many people had ear pain because of the loud blasts. Some had bad headaches and felt very scared. Nine people are still in the hospital, and two of them are badly hurt.

The accident happened on Thursday in Pocheon, a town 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Seoul. Two South Korean fighter jets were doing practice drills but dropped eight bombs in the wrong place. The bombs fell outside the training area near the border with North Korea.

Videos from the area showed big explosions. Houses and buildings shook because of the blasts. People in the town were shocked and afraid. The military later said the mistake happened because one of the pilots entered the wrong numbers in the system. This made the eight 500-pound (225 kg) bombs fall in the wrong place.

The South Korean military has stopped all bomb training for now. They said they will check what went wrong before starting again. But they also said this mistake will not change the big military training with the US that will begin on Monday.

People in Pocheon are angry and scared. On Friday, many people and activists went to the Defence Ministry in Seoul to protest. They said these military drills put their lives in danger and should stop.

One person from Pocheon, Lee Myoung-won, said, "We don’t understand why they keep doing these drills. We don’t know who they are protecting, but we know we are in danger."

The South Korean government has said they will help the people affected. They also said they will make sure this mistake does not happen again. But people in Pocheon are still worried and want answers.
