Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is making his long-awaited comeback to Bollywood! He will be seen opposite actress Vaani Kapoor in a romantic drama titled Abir Gulaal.
The movie was officially announced last year, and on April 1, the makers released its first teaser. This short clip gave fans a glimpse of the love story between the lead characters. In the teaser, Fawad and Vaani are seen sitting in a car, enjoying the classic song Kuch Na Kaho from the movie 1942: A Love Story.
When is the movie releasing?
The film is set to hit theaters on May 9, 2025. As soon as the teaser dropped, fans started talking about it online, making it one of the most anticipated films of the year.

The makers shared the teaser on social media with the caption:
“The wait is over! Bringing love back to the big screen with Abir Gulaal and @fawadkhan81. A Richer Lens film. See you in cinemas on 9th May!”
The film is directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, with music composed by Amit Trivedi. Actress Ridhi Dogra will also be playing an important role.
Clash at the Box Office
Abir Gulaal will release on the same day as Bhool Chuk Maaf, a dark comedy starring Rajkummar Rao. This means both movies will compete for audiences at the box office.
Fawad Khan’s Bollywood Comeback After Years
Fawad Khan was last seen in Karan Johar’s 2016 film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. However, after the Uri terror attack, an unofficial ban was placed on Pakistani artists in India. The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) passed a resolution discouraging filmmakers from working with actors from Pakistan.
But things changed in 2023 when the Bombay High Court rejected a petition asking for an official ban on Pakistani artists. The court stated that art, music, sports, and culture bring people together, creating peace and harmony across borders.
With Abir Gulaal, Fawad Khan is finally returning to Bollywood, and fans can’t wait to see him back on the big screen!
