Prominent Indian-American leader Jasdeep Singh Jassee has hailed the recently concluded polls in India, emphasizing their role in showcasing the robustness of the country's electoral process and reaffirming the resilience of its democracy on the global stage.

In an interview with PTI, Jassee highlighted the significant message conveyed by the election results, particularly in dispelling doubts cast by Western media regarding the integrity of India's democratic mechanisms. Despite initial scepticism, the decisive outcome of the elections has silenced such concerns, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi poised to embark on a historic third consecutive term, a feat unseen in over six decades.

Reflecting on his observations during his two-week stay in Punjab amidst the general elections, Jassee underscored the legitimacy and fairness of India's electoral processes. He noted that allegations of a compromised Election Commission and malfunctioning voting machines, frequently cited in Western media, have been debunked by the election results, affirming the trustworthiness of India's democratic framework.

According to Jassee, the electorate's resounding support for development-oriented governance reflects the maturity and strength of Indian democracy. He highlighted instances of inclusivity within the electoral process, citing examples such as the participation and victory of individuals with controversial backgrounds, such as radical pro-Khalistan separatist Amritpal Singh and the son of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassin, Beant Singh.

Jassee expressed optimism regarding Prime Minister Modi's leadership, anticipating stability and continued economic development during his third term. He also predicted further enhancement of the United States-India relationship under Modi's tenure.

Regarding the electoral landscape in Punjab, Jassee noted a notable increase in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) vote share, despite the party's failure to secure any seats in the state. He attributed this surge in support to the BJP's expanding influence, setting the stage for future electoral contests in Punjab.

In essence, Jassee's remarks highlight the significance of India's recent elections in reaffirming the strength and vibrancy of its democratic institutions, while also signaling optimism for the nation's future trajectory under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
