A Shimla-bound Alliance Air flight from Delhi experienced a technical issue while landing at the Shimla airport on Monday morning. According to officials, all 44 passengers on board, including Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Atul Verma, are safe.
Pilot Reports Brake Issue
The incident occurred when the pilot of flight number 9I821 detected a problem with the plane’s brakes during landing. As the aircraft approached the runway, it was unable to stop at the usual point. Instead, it continued moving until it reached the end of the runway. The pilot then applied strong brakes to bring the plane to a halt, preventing any mishap.

Following the landing, airport authorities immediately grounded the aircraft for a thorough inspection. Engineers are now examining the plane to identify the cause of the brake malfunction.
Deputy CM Recalls the Scary Experience
After safely disembarking, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri shared his experience of the incident. He explained that the plane had trouble stopping and ended up at the edge of the runway.
He said, “We landed at Shimla airport this morning, but there was some issue with the landing. I am not familiar with the technical details, but as a passenger, I could feel that the plane did not touch the ground where it should have. It kept moving ahead, and we reached the very end of the runway before it was stopped. The pilot had to apply strong brakes to bring the aircraft to a halt. We remained inside the plane for about 20 to 25 minutes before we were allowed to step out.”
Passengers Safe but Shaken
Although the incident caused some concern, no one was injured. The passengers, including Deputy CM Agnihotri and DGP Dr. Atul Verma, were safely escorted from the plane. Officials are now investigating the technical fault to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Airport Authorities on Alert
Following the glitch, airport officials have ramped up safety measures. The grounded aircraft will undergo a detailed inspection before it is cleared for future flights. Authorities have assured that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of passengers.
