More than 26,000 stories of young people working to solve social problems with their own ideas and strong belief in change have been received in just one month. This is part of the fifth edition of the Arab Hope Makers initiative, announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, on Saturday.

Under the hashtag #LifeHasTaughtMe, Sheikh Mohammed shared a message about the importance of hope. He said that hope is what connects the present to a better future. He stressed the need to build bridges of hope for young people so that they do not fall into despair. “Hope is the bridge between the reality we live in and the future we dream of. We must help build this bridge for millions of young people, so they do not lose hope. Believing in hope means believing in life itself,” he said.

The Hope Makers Awards Ceremony will take place on February 23. This event will bring together individuals whose efforts have made a real difference in their communities. These individuals have led projects that have improved lives, helped those in need, and created positive change.

The Arab Hope Makers initiative was launched under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). It is the biggest project of its kind in the region, recognizing people who dedicate their time, money, and effort to social, humanitarian, and charity work.

The initiative looks for individuals and organizations from across the Arab world and beyond. It focuses on those who have created projects, campaigns, or activities that solve problems, reduce suffering, or support communities. All of these efforts must be done voluntarily and not for profit.

People can nominate themselves or suggest someone they believe deserves recognition. The winner of the award will receive Dh1 million to continue their humanitarian work and develop their projects further.

The Arab Hope Makers initiative first started in 2017 when Sheikh Mohammed announced a unique opportunity—the chance to be a “Hope Maker” with a Dh1 million prize. At that time, the initiative received over 65,000 applications, far exceeding its original goal of 20,000. Since then, it has continued to inspire and support those who work to bring positive change to society.
