A terrible fire broke out on Sunday at the top floor of a 52-storey residential tower in Sharjah, causing the death of five people and injuries to 19 others. The Sharjah Police confirmed this sad news on Tuesday.
The fire started around 11:30 in the morning. The police got an emergency call saying that flames were coming out of one of the upper-floor apartments. Right away, Sharjah Police, Sharjah Civil Defence, and National Ambulance teams worked together to quickly evacuate everyone from the building. Thanks to their fast action, many lives were saved—but sadly, some lives were lost, and many people were hurt.

The building had more than 1,500 residents, including families and working professionals from many different countries. After the fire, many of them had to leave their homes and lost most of their belongings. But officials later allowed everyone to return to the building. People whose homes were damaged in the fire were given new apartments in the same tower.
Brigadier General Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al-Naour, who is the Director General of Operations and Security Support, shared his sympathy with the families of those who died. He said, “This is a very sad day for everyone affected. Our main concern is the safety of the residents, and we will keep helping the community as they recover from this painful event.”
Search for the Cause
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Sharjah Police’s forensic team is carefully checking the building to find out how the fire started. They are working with Civil Defence and other authorities to understand what really happened.
Along with emergency services, humanitarian groups like the Emirates Red Crescent have also stepped in. They are helping people who lost their homes by giving them food, shelter, and basic supplies as they try to recover and rebuild their lives.
This event has shaken the community deeply, but the support from the authorities and kind-hearted groups is giving hope to those who are affected.
