The competition focuses on important areas like how to get customers involved, reuse materials, and save water. This shows that Saudi Arabia is trying to build a fashion industry that cares about the planet.
This competition started after an agreement between the Saudi Fashion Commission and Kering, which is part of Saudi Arabia’s plan to make fashion more eco-friendly.
Burak Cakmak, the CEO of the Saudi Fashion Commission, said, "This competition shows how committed we are to making fashion in Saudi Arabia more sustainable."
Marie-Claire Daveu, Kering’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said, "This partnership will help inspire new businesses and make a real difference in the Saudi fashion industry."
The competition is open to businesses in Saudi Arabia or those who want to start there. By December, 20 businesses will be chosen to attend a training camp in Riyadh. They will get help to improve their ideas and learn how to pitch their plans.
The top 10 ideas will move to the final round, where judges will choose the winners based on how creative, eco-friendly, and promising their ideas are. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Riyadh in January 2025.
The top 3 winners will win a 10-day trip to Paris to meet Kering’s sustainability team and learn from them. They will also get a chance to show their ideas at the Change-Now Summit in 2025.
This competition is a great way to support new ideas that help the environment and build a better future for fashion.
