Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the Chairman of the UAE Padel Federation, presented awards to the winners of the International Padel Federation (FIP) Championship for the gold category. This event was part of the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, a major sports competition held every year during Ramadan at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.
This prestigious tournament was launched and is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence. It is organized under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The tournament is known for its inspiring slogan, 'Limitless Capabilities,' and is the largest of its kind.

The awards ceremony was attended by prominent guests, including Ali Sajwani, Managing Director and General Manager of Operations at Damac Properties, which is the tournament’s Diamond Partner, and Hassan Al Mazrouei, the tournament manager.
In the men’s category, the Swedish duo of Simon Vazquez and Adam Axelsen emerged victorious after a thrilling match against Maxime Joris from France and Guillem Figorla Santiago from Spain. They won with scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
In the women’s category, the Spanish pair of Barbara Las Heras and Esther Carnicero Matin secured first place by defeating fellow Spaniards Laura Lujan Rodriguez and Marta Arellano Navarro with scores of 7-6 and 6-3.
The Nad Al Sheba Padel Championship for national teams began recently, featuring participants from several countries, including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iran, Australia, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia. The group stage matches are scheduled to continue until Wednesday. Today, Bahrain will face Iran, Kuwait will play against the Netherlands, and Australia will compete with Saudi Arabia. Tomorrow’s matches will see the UAE taking on Bahrain, Saudi Arabia playing against Kuwait, and the Netherlands facing Australia. The semi-finals are set for Thursday, followed by the final match on Friday, March 7.
Additionally, the Nad Al Sheba Open Doubles Padel Championship will begin on Saturday, March 8, featuring the top 32 doubles teams. This event will continue until March 12. Following this, the FIP Juniors Championship will take place from March 13 to 16. A special competition for the local community is also scheduled from March 16 to 20.
Jiu-Jitsu Championship Begins
Apart from padel, the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament also includes an exciting Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will begin tomorrow at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. The competition is divided into five categories:
Men’s Open (18+ years) – Blue and Purple belts (-62kg, -72kg, -85kg, -100kg) and Brown and Black belts (-62kg, -72kg, -85kg, -100kg).
Masters (30+ years) – Blue and Purple belts (-62kg, -72kg, -85kg, -100kg) and Brown and Black belts (-62kg, -72kg, -85kg, -100kg).
Women’s Open – Blue and Purple belts (-55kg, -62kg, -72kg, -85kg) and Brown and Black belts (-55kg, -62kg, -72kg, -85kg).
Juniors (16-17 years) – Blue and Purple belts (-52kg, -62kg, -73kg, -85kg) and Blue and Purple belts (-44kg, -52kg, -63kg, -75kg).
The competition follows a round-robin and knockout format as approved by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Junior matches will take place on March 5, while senior men’s and women’s competitions will be held on March 6.
Other Exciting Competitions
March 6 will also feature the start of the Obstacle Challenge Championship, which will run until March 10. The much-anticipated running race is scheduled for March 8.
Registrations are still open for multiple competitions, including running, cycling, laser run (shooting and running), badminton, tug-of-war, and obstacle course events.

Badminton competitions will take place on March 8 and 9.
The wheelchair basketball tournament will run from March 9 to March 19.
The laser run event is scheduled for March 10 and 11.
The tug-of-war championship will begin on March 11 and continue until March 18.
The cycling race will be held on March 15 and 16.
The volleyball championship will start on March 12 and conclude on March 20.
This year’s Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament promises thrilling matches, intense competition, and an opportunity for athletes from different backgrounds to showcase their talents in an exciting sporting atmosphere.
