Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of the UAE Padel Federation, crowned the winners of the International Padel Federation Junior Championship, which took place at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex. The matches were held at the complex’s indoor padel hall as part of the 12th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament.

The Nad Al Sheba Tournament is the largest sporting event of its kind and is held every year during Ramadan. It was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The tournament is organized under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, with the inspiring slogan ‘Limitless Abilities’.

During the event, Hassan Al Mazrouei, Tournament Director, and Salem Dahmani, Senior Marketing Manager at Dubai Duty Free, were also present as the winners were crowned after the finals.

In the under-18 final, Ahmed Al Hashemi and Aaron Rubio claimed victory by defeating Antonio Palma and Alessandro Perrotta. The same winning pair also made history by claiming a rare double win. They topped the under-16 category as well, beating Ramtin Rafiei Borozhni and Ali Taghizadeh Feji.

In the under-14 competition, Hamdan Al Hashemi and Mario Brocal Aviles emerged victorious. They overpowered Sepehr Mehrbakhsh and Ramtin Rafiei Borozhni in the final, securing the title.

Meanwhile, the cycling competition saw Algerian rider Hamza Yassine successfully defend his title in the Men’s Open 74-km race. He was unstoppable, crossing the finish line in 1 hour, 33 minutes, and 9 seconds, narrowly beating Emiratis Abdullah Jassim Al Ali and Ahmed Al Mansouri, who came in second and third, respectively.

In the senior citizens and residents category, Simon Cox from Great Britain claimed the top spot. He completed the 37-km race in 51 minutes and 11 seconds. Close behind was Algerian Khalil Haddad, finishing in 51 minutes and 14 seconds, while Noureddine Houchine, also from Algeria, placed third for the second consecutive year with a time of 52 minutes and 52 seconds.

The People of Determination categories also saw some inspiring performances. In the Road Bicycle Category (C) over 18 km, Emirati Abdullah Salem Al Balushi claimed first place with a time of 25 minutes and 19 seconds. Ahmed Mohammed Saif Al Badawi, also from the UAE, followed closely in 25 minutes and 24 seconds, while Saudi Arabia’s Adi Hamdan Al Sharari secured third with a time of 26 minutes and 35 seconds.

In the Handcycle Category (H), Omani rider Sami Al Sulaimi finished first in 31 minutes and 50 seconds. Emirati Saeed Rashid Juma Al Dhaheri took second place with an identical time of 31 minutes and 50 seconds, while Emirati Theban Salem Al Muhairi came third, crossing the line in 36 minutes and 22 seconds.

In the Blind People of Determination B&T category, Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Malawi dominated the race, finishing in 26 minutes and 34 seconds. Emirati Bader Abdulaziz came second in 33 minutes and 43 seconds, while Emirati Ahmed Abdullah Al Shamsi placed third with a time of 35 minutes and 43 seconds.

In volleyball, defending champions Zabeel were eliminated after a thrilling five-set match against Al Ameed. In front of a packed crowd at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, Al Ameed edged out Zabeel 3-2 in a game that could have gone either way.

Zabeel started strong, winning the first set 25-21, but Al Ameed quickly responded by taking the second set 25-23. Zabeel fought back in the third set, winning it 25-20, with their opposite Nathan Thimotee Feral and middle blocker Iliya Petkovic leading the charge.

However, Al Ameed turned the game around, winning the fourth set 25-23 and forcing a deciding fifth set. In a nail-biting finish, Al Ameed secured the win 16-14, knocking out the defending champions and booking their spot in the semi-finals.

Al Ameed’s Tommaso Stefani, who scored 16 points, was named the man of the match for his outstanding performance.

In another volleyball match, Al Tadawi 1 maintained their dominance by topping Group One with an unbeaten record. They defeated HFH 3-1, sealing their place at the top of the group with nine points.

Despite losing the second set, Al Tadawi 1 controlled most of the game, winning 25-12, 19-25, 25-22, and 25-16. Maksim Sapozhkov was the standout player, scoring a game-high 28 points, supported by Nikita Zudin, who contributed 14 points.

Fans are eagerly waiting for the Wheelchair Basketball final on Wednesday, March 19, where Dubai Municipality will face off against Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.

After nine days of action at the Dubai Club for Special Needs in Al Ghusais, the competition will conclude with the final match at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.

Dubai Municipality reached the final after a thrilling 29-27 win over defending champions Dubai Police in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services dominated their semi-final match against Sharjah Police, winning 34-26.

The final promises to be an intense showdown as both teams battle for the championship title.
