Before this match, Rajasthan Royals had lost two games—one against Sunrisers Hyderabad and the other against Kolkata Knight Riders, who are the defending champions. But this time, Riyan Parag's team played well and got their first victory.

Rajasthan Royals batted first and scored 182 runs for 9 wickets. The main star of their batting was Nitish Rana, who played a brilliant innings of 81 runs from just 36 balls. His fast batting helped Rajasthan get a good total, even though they kept losing wickets at different times. Along with him, Wanindu Hasaranga also played an important role, not only in batting but also in bowling. Hasaranga took four wickets, making things very difficult for Chennai in the second innings.

Chennai Super Kings' bowlers did a good job of stopping Rajasthan from scoring more. Noor Ahmad and Matheesha Pathirana both took two wickets for 28 runs each, while Khaleel Ahmed also took two wickets. This helped Chennai restrict Rajasthan below 200 runs, which could have been a big target.

When Chennai came to bat, they looked strong and had chances to win. But the match kept changing, with both teams taking turns in control. Chennai was getting close to the target, but Rajasthan's bowlers kept fighting back.

The match reached an exciting finish in the final over. Chennai needed just a few runs to win, and MS Dhoni was at the crease. Everyone knows Dhoni is a great finisher and has won many matches under pressure. But Rajasthan’s bowler Sandeep Sharma bowled well and took Dhoni’s wicket at a very important moment. This made sure that Chennai could not win, and Rajasthan got their first victory of the season.

After the match, Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan captain, was happy but said the team could have done even better. Talking to ESPNcricinfo, he said, "It felt like a long time, even though it was just two matches. We still feel we were 20 runs short. We lost quick wickets in the middle, but our bowlers did a great job. We had two tough matches before, but we told ourselves to forget them and play with a fresh mind."

Even though Rajasthan won, their captain was fined for taking too much time to complete the overs. The IPL has a rule against slow over-rate, and Parag was punished for not following this rule.

After this win, Rajasthan Royals are now at ninth place on the points table. Their next match will be against Punjab Kings on April 5. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are now at seventh place and will play their next match against Delhi Capitals in Chennai on the same day.
