All trains at Paris' Gare du Nord train station were stopped after a bomb from World War II was found on the tracks. The bomb was discovered early in the morning during regular maintenance work in Saint-Denis, a neighborhood near Paris. The French railway company, SNCF, said the bomb was found in the middle of the tracks. The RER B train service also confirmed the bomb was from the Second World War on social media.

Gare du Nord is one of the busiest train stations in Europe. It connects trains to places like London, Brussels, the Netherlands, and many airports. The station has about 700,000 passengers every day. After the bomb was found, French officials stopped all train services to and from the station, including high-speed trains like TGV and Eurostar.

Because of this, many trains were delayed or canceled. At least three Eurostar trains were canceled in the morning as a safety measure. Passengers traveling to London, Brussels, and other places had to wait. The bomb’s exact origin is still not clear, but it is not unusual for bombs from World War II to be found during construction work.

Philippe Tabarot, the French Transport Minister, said the traffic would be very disrupted all day, and only some trains would run in the afternoon. He told travelers to try to delay their trips. The bomb was found around 4 a.m. by workers moving earth near the tracks. Experts were sent to the scene, and they are still working to safely remove the bomb. Many passengers who were stuck at the station gathered as it opened for the day.

It is rare to find World War II bombs in busy places like this station, though they are often discovered in France. Minister Tabarot told people not to worry about an explosion and said everything was being done safely to remove the bomb. Local residents and people at the station were reassured that they were not in danger.
