Within five days of its launch, ChatGPT exceeded 1 million users, a milestone that escalated to 100 million monthly active users by January 2023, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history. Altman noted Chesky's growing influence as OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, flourished, describing him as a trusted advisor whose insights were consistently valuable. Altman acknowledged learning to trust Chesky's advice implicitly, attributing much of OpenAI's success to this guidance.
