Abu Dhabi: Indian expats in the UAE will soon see changes to the way they access passport and attestation services. The Indian missions in the UAE plan to launch a new unified service centre that will have branches in 14 locations. This will happen no earlier than the second quarter of this year, Gulf News has reported.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has reopened a tender to invite bids from service providers for the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC). This centre will bring all consular services under one roof, making it easier for Indian nationals and others needing Indian visa services.
Currently, two different service providers handle different services for the Indian missions. BLS International takes care of passport and visa applications, while IVS Global handles document attestation services. Some other services are provided directly by the Embassy and the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

The new unified facility is expected to improve services by being fast, transparent, and accessible. It will be located in prime areas and designed to streamline the process, reduce waiting times, and ensure better efficiency.
The Indian Embassy had initially planned to start this project in January 2024 but had to cancel the previous tender due to technical issues. Now, a new tender has been issued with updated requirements. The new service provider will need to set up a website for booking appointments, a dashboard to track applications, and ensure strict deadlines. If they fail to meet these deadlines, they could be fined.
The service provider will also need to make appointment slots available within five working days and ensure that each application is processed within 30 minutes.
Over the past three years, Indian missions in the UAE have handled around 1.6 million services, which is an average of 1,760 services each working day.
The new service centres will be located in several places, including:
Abu Dhabi: Al Khalidiya, Al Reem, and Musaffah
Dubai: Al Ain, Ghayathi, Bur Dubai, and JLT/Marina
Sharjah: Al Majaz
Ajman: Al Jurf
Fujairah
Umm Al Quwain
Khor Fakkan: Corniche/Subara
Ras Al Khaimah: Kalba, Nakheel/Khujan/Mareed
