His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met with Her Excellency Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on the eve of the World Governments Summit 2025. The event is being held in Dubai from February 11 to 13 under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments.’ The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, along with senior UAE officials.
Also present at the meeting were His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council; His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit; and His Excellency Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs.
During their discussion, Sheikh Mohammed and Georgieva talked about the latest global economic developments and explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the IMF. Their goal is to promote global financial stability and support sustainable economic growth.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that international cooperation is crucial to overcoming economic challenges and creating new solutions that benefit people around the world. He pointed out that the World Governments Summit serves as an important platform for global leaders and experts to exchange ideas and develop strategies for a stable and sustainable global economy.
He also praised the role of international organizations like the IMF in shaping global financial policies that support economic stability and development. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to being an active partner in global economic growth by adopting progressive policies and working towards long-term sustainability.
Georgieva, in turn, acknowledged the UAE’s contributions to the world economy and its efforts to promote financial stability. She expressed hope for continued collaboration between the UAE and the IMF to address economic challenges and drive global prosperity. She also thanked the UAE for hosting the World Governments Summit, saying that it provides an excellent opportunity for global leaders to come together, share knowledge, and find new ways to improve governance.
The World Governments Summit 2025 is hosting more than 30 world leaders, 140 government delegations, and representatives from 80 international organizations. The event features 21 forums discussing major global issues and trends, along with over 200 sessions where experts, ministers, and decision-makers will share their insights. Additionally, the summit will publish 30 research reports in partnership with international institutions, further contributing to discussions on the future of governance and economic stability.
