Thirty-two executives from both regional and global organizations have successfully graduated from the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) after completing the intensive six-day MBZUAI Executive Program Accelerated (MEP-A). The program, tailored for leaders seeking to understand AI strategy and its implementation, provided valuable insights that these professionals can use to drive transformative change within their respective companies.

The MEP-A, an expedited version of MBZUAI’s 16-week Executive Program, is designed to equip senior executives with a unique understanding of artificial intelligence, offering access to the university’s cutting-edge facilities and expert faculty. The faculty includes professors from MBZUAI as well as top institutions like Columbia University and UC Berkeley. The aim is to provide participants with a comprehensive foundation in AI and its potential impact on business and government practices.
This inaugural cohort received critical tools to foster AI integration and innovation within their organizations. Participants were trained in the real-world applications of AI and its strategic implications in both business and policymaking. The program also facilitated access to a global community of senior business leaders, government figures, and AI experts, enabling them to share best practices and discuss the latest advancements in AI technology, ethics, and strategic implementation.
A key feature of the program was its focus on bridging theory with practice. Participants gained hands-on experience through site visits to leading organizations including ADNOC, Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Authority, the Dubai Future Foundation, and Dubai Future Labs. These visits allowed the executives to see AI technology in action and understand its real-world implications.
The cohort was diverse, with participants from seven countries, including 26 executives from key UAE institutions such as ADNOC, Mubadala, Dubai Water and Electricity Authority, and the Department of Finance. The remaining six international participants came from Saudi Arabia, the UK, the US, and the Philippines. Of the 32 graduates, 14 were women, reflecting the program’s commitment to fostering gender diversity in the tech sector.
Professor Timothy Baldwin, MBZUAI’s Provost and an expert in Natural Language Processing, shared his views on the success of the program. “The MEP-A builds on the success of our full Executive Program, bringing essential insights to a broader audience of global leaders,” he said. “Feedback from graduates has been overwhelmingly positive, with many citing the site visits as particularly valuable. The program has empowered them to bring AI into their organizations safely and ethically.”
He also noted that the graduates’ fresh perspectives have been valuable for the university, which will use their feedback to improve future iterations of the MEP-A.
The program’s curriculum included expert instructors and speakers, including MBZUAI President Professor Eric Xing, UC Berkeley’s Professor Michael Jordan, and Professor Sheena Iyengar of Columbia University. MBZUAI professors Sami Haddadin, Elizabeth Churchill, and Ian Reid also contributed their expertise.
Since its establishment in 2019, MBZUAI has quickly risen to prominence, ranking among the world’s top 100 universities across computer science disciplines, and is consistently placed in the top 15 globally for AI, machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and natural language processing.
Through its rigorous and impactful programs like MEP-A, MBZUAI is continuing to develop and empower leaders with the expertise needed to lead the AI-driven transformation in their industries.
