Jesno was born in Kerala, India, surrounded by rich traditions and vibrant culture. From a young age, she was drawn to the beauty of her surroundings—the detailed patterns of traditional art during festivals, the bright colors of saris, and the stories shared during celebrations.
Her love for art began early. With simple tools at her disposal, she would sketch and paint, expressing her imagination. Her parents, though not artists, encouraged her to follow her talent. “The colors, the traditions, and the stories I grew up with sparked my love for art,” she says. Although art was always part of her life, Jesno’s decision to pursue it as a career came after a teacher noticed her talent. “That teacher’s encouragement helped me believe that art could be more than just a hobby—it could be my purpose,” she recalls. This realization led her to Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, one of India’s most well-known art schools. There, Jesno learned not only the techniques of art but also its power to connect people and tell meaningful stories.
In 2009, Jesno moved to the UAE with her husband, Rengi Cherian. The UAE’s cultural diversity and appreciation for the arts gave her the opportunity to dream bigger. Inspired by the vibrant art scene, she connected with local artists and began exploring new possibilities. “The UAE gave me the confidence to create something meaningful—a space where art could bring people together,” she explains. In 2016, Jesno turned her dream into reality by starting Art4you Gallery. Her goal was clear: to create a place where artists—both experienced and new—could showcase their work, tell their stories, and connect with audiences.
Art4you Gallery quickly became a center of creativity, organizing more than 290 exhibitions in Dubai and other cities like London, Paris, and New York. Jesno ensured that every artist, whether trained or self-taught, felt welcome. “Art should be for everyone,” she says. “It’s about building a platform where every voice can be heard.” Jesno’s exhibitions go beyond showcasing art; they tell stories. Themes like The Power of the Line, Now or Never - Expressions of Colors, The Traces of the time and Expressions of Colors bring together diverse ideas and encourage meaningful conversations. One memorable exhibition celebrated Indian tribal and folk art, connecting the beauty of traditional art forms with modern audiences. “Each exhibition is like a story that brings the artist and audience together,” Jesno shares.
Jesno believes strongly in supporting women artists. Through initiatives like Her Story and Visionary Women, she has given female artists a platform to share their journeys and inspire others. “Women bring unique perspectives that deserve to be seen and celebrated,” she says. “Art can be a powerful way to lift each other up.” Building a career in a new country had its challenges. Jesno had to learn the art community’s dynamics and connect with people in a competitive environment.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought another major hurdle. With physical events on hold, Jesno adapted by organizing virtual exhibitions and workshops, ensuring Art4you Gallery continued to stay active. “Every challenge teaches you something,” Jesno says. “You just have to stay focused and keep going.”
In October 2024, Jesno launched the Artistic Luminary Awards, a celebration of talent from 30 countries across 65 categories. This event honored achievements in painting, sculpture, digital art, and more, while also spotlighting lifetime achievements. “This event is not just about awards—it’s about showing the world how art can bring people together and inspire change,” Jesno says. Jesno’s work is far from finished. She hopes to expand Art4you Gallery’s global reach, bringing more artists and audiences together. She also plans to highlight sustainability through art, using her platform to address global challenges. “My dream is to create a community where art becomes a bridge between cultures and inspires people to work together for a better world,” she says.
Jesno’s story is a powerful reminder of how art can connect, inspire, and transform. Through her work, she has touched countless lives, showing that even small efforts can make a big difference. “Art is not just about creating—it’s about building connections,” Jesno says. “Through creativity, we can make the world kinder and more beautiful.”
Through Voices of UAE, we celebrate Jesno Jackson’s incredible contributions to art and culture. Her journey is one of perseverance, creativity, and a strong belief in the power of art to change lives. Let her story remind us all to dream big, work hard, and use our talents to make a difference.
