Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, and his brother, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, recently attended the signing of an agreement. This agreement was made between the Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and the Professional Fighters League (PFL). The main purpose of this agreement is to launch a new global championship for mixed martial arts (MMA).

The new championship is called "Road to Dubai" and will include a series of MMA events held in different cities around the world. These events will lead up to the final match of the season, which will take place in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena on January 25, 2025. This event will be a big deal in the world of MMA because it will be the first time such a major MMA championship is being held in the Middle East.

One of the top fighters in this championship will be Usman Nurmagomedov. He is the Bellator Lightweight World Champion and has an undefeated record of 18-0. Usman will be defending his title against Paul Hughes from Ireland, who has a 13-1 record. Paul Hughes recently won an important match against AJ McKee in the PFL’s "Battle of the Giants."

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said that this event shows how much the world trusts Dubai to host big sports events. He mentioned that Dubai is already known for hosting many successful international tournaments. He also said that this new championship will help make Dubai an even bigger sports hub in the world.
The agreement also has plans to help Emirati athletes improve in the sport of MMA. It aims to train and prepare young athletes from the UAE to compete in international competitions. This will give them a chance to become champions in the future and represent Dubai and the UAE on the world stage.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Saeed Hareb, the Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, Ahmed Al Khaja, the CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, and Pete Murray, the CEO of the Professional Fighters League.

The PFL is one of the fastest-growing sports leagues in the world. It features top fighters from many countries, and it has become a global leader in MMA. With this agreement, the PFL is not only bringing big international MMA events to Dubai, but it is also helping young Emirati fighters grow and succeed in the sport. This partnership is a great opportunity for Dubai to show the world that it is a top destination for sports events and a place where new MMA champions can be made.
