Heavy rains have caused severe flooding across several parts of Maharashtra, including Pune and Nashik. The situation in Nashik’s Malegaon is particularly critical, where twelve individuals are stranded due to rising water levels in the Girna River. Disaster response teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the local fire department are on the scene, working to rescue those trapped.
Over the past 48 hours, Nashik has experienced 250 mm of rainfall, leading to a rise in the Girna River. The Gangapur Dam, which reached 86% capacity, had to release water last night, exacerbating the flooding. Additionally, a 29-year-old man is reported missing following the increase in the Godavari River levels. Several shops along the riverbank have been relocated as a precaution, and local authorities have issued alerts to residents.
