Family with 10-year-old boy mysteriously vanishes into woods in Karnataka

Post by: Layla Badr

A family staying at a resort in Bandipur, located in Karnataka’s Chamarajnagar district, has mysteriously disappeared into the woods. The police confirmed the news on Tuesday.
The missing family members have been identified as 40-year-old J. Nishanth, his wife Chandana, and their 10-year-old son. The family had checked into the Country Club near Bandipur on March 2. However, the next day, they went missing.

According to the Gundlupet Police, the family left their luggage in the resort room, took their car, and went out. They never returned. Investigations show that they had traveled to Mangala Road, which leads into the Bandipur forest area, and then vanished. The police have now filed a missing person’s case.

Chamarajanagar’s Superintendent of Police, B.T. Kavitha, visited the resort with other officers to oversee the investigation. Early findings suggest that Nishanth used a fake identity card while booking the resort room, claiming to be an employee of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), but it was later revealed that he was unemployed.

It is suspected that Nishanth may have come to the resort to escape from trouble related to moneylenders. Investigations indicate that he had taken heavy loans, and the police believe that his creditors may have either kidnapped the family or that they walked into the forest to escape.

At this stage, the police are not able to provide more details as the investigation is ongoing. The search for the family is being carried out in neighboring states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and the city of Mysuru in Karnataka.

This incident comes just after a second-year Pre-University (PUC) student went missing in Farangipete, a town near Bantwal, in the Mangaluru district. The disappearance has sparked anger among Hindu organizations and the BJP, leading them to observe a bandh to protest against the police’s inaction.
More information is expected to be revealed as the investigation continues.
