Emirates has achieved a significant move to improve its aircraft's performance and safety efficiency by signing the agreement with Airbus to implement the two advanced digital solutions: Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+) and Core X3. With these technologies, the fleet will be improved as predictive maintenance is used along with real-time data analysis.
The contract was signed by Ahmed Safa, head of Emirates Engineering, and Laurent Negre, VP Customer Services at Airbus Africa and the Middle East. Through this agreement, Emirates hopes to advance aircraft availability, reduce unforeseen maintenance events, and become more intelligent in deciding its fleet's destiny in terms of Airbus A380 and A350 aircraft.
Improving Fleet Efficiency
By using the Skywise Fleet Performance+ system, Emirates’ engineering teams will have access to real-time data about aircraft performance and health. This means they can detect potential technical issues even while the aircraft is in the air and prepare for necessary maintenance before the plane lands. The technology will allow faster turnarounds and help ensure that Emirates flights remain on schedule.

Ahmed Safa, Emirates Engineering Head, said: "Emirates is committed to using the latest technologies to enhance operational reliability and punctuality, minimize downtime, and ensure our aircraft meet the highest standards. The adoption of Skywise Fleet Performance+ is an important step in improving maintenance efficiency and keeping our aircraft in top condition for a better customer experience.
We are delighted to enhance our partnership with Emirates. Through the integration of Skywise Fleet Performance+ and Core X3, we will help enhance fleet reliability and operational efficiency, thereby enabling passengers to enjoy a smoother travel experience," said Laurent Negre, Vice President of Customer Services at Airbus.
Key Features of Skywise Fleet Performance+
The aircraft's conditions before departure are monitored, including cabin temperature and key systems.
Uses advanced analytics to track aircraft performance in real time
It gives immediate notifications on possible technical faults for proper maintenance.
Connects multiple data sources for a comprehensive aircraft health and operational status view.
With the integration of the Core X3 analytics platform, Emirates Engineering will be better positioned to process large amounts of data. Different systems within the airline will connect, and teams will have real-time insights toward improving overall decisions.
Emirates' Commitment to Innovation
Emirates Engineering has always been at the forefront of using digital tools and analytics to maintain its fleet. The airline is also exploring new technologies such as drone-assisted aircraft inspections and the use of virtual and augmented reality for maintenance operations.
Emirates Engineering operates from a massive 400,000-square-meter facility at Dubai International Airport, which includes 12 hangars—making it the largest aircraft maintenance facility of its kind in the Middle East.
During 2023, Emirates announced the largest ever investment of US$950 million for a new state-of-the-art engineering complex at Dubai World Central (DWC). The new facility was to cover an area of 1 million square meters, making it the biggest and most advanced in the region. This is set to support Emirates' growing fleet as well as play a big role in establishing Dubai as an aviation hub. The complex is designed to meet Emirates’ operational needs well into the 2040s and may also provide maintenance services to other airlines.
Through this new agreement with Airbus and its continued investments in advanced technology, Emirates is reinforcing its position as a global leader in aviation, ensuring its aircraft remain efficient, reliable, and ready for the future.
