Dubai has achieved a major milestone in the field of arbitration, securing a top position in a global ranking. The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) has been recognized in the latest GAR 100 Data Report, a prestigious ranking published by Global Arbitration Review (GAR), one of the most trusted publications in this field.
Dubai Surpasses Global Arbitration Hubs
According to the report, Dubai is now the fifth most popular arbitration seat in the world in terms of the number of cases handled. This means it has outperformed more than 405 arbitration locations, including well-known international hubs like New York and Geneva.
Dubai has also secured the ninth position globally in terms of the total value of arbitration cases. This puts the city ahead of many key arbitration centres, including Seoul and Frankfurt.
DIAC, which is the main arbitration centre in Dubai, has also made it to the top 10 arbitration centres worldwide. It was ranked tenth for the number of cases handled and ninth for the total case value, outperforming more than 315 arbitration centres worldwide.

This achievement makes Dubai the only city and DIAC the only arbitration centre from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region to be included in the top 10 of this global ranking.
A Reflection of Global Business Trust
Jehad Kazim, the Executive Director of DIAC, said that these high rankings show the international business community’s trust in Dubai as a leading destination for arbitration. She added that DIAC’s success directly supports the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to make Dubai a top global business hub.
Kazim also highlighted that DIAC follows a structured plan under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE. This plan aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who aims to position DIAC among the top five arbitration centres in the world in the near future.
DIAC’s Growth Over the Years
Over the past 30 years, DIAC has handled more than 5,000 arbitration cases, with a total case value exceeding AED 100 billion. The centre offers a strong legal framework and effective enforcement mechanisms, making it an attractive choice for companies dealing with high-value disputes.
Since 2022, DIAC has taken several steps to improve its services. These include:
Updating its arbitration rules to make processes smoother and more efficient.
Reforming its arbitration court to ensure fairness and transparency.
Expanding its board of directors to bring in more expertise and experience.
Kazim emphasized that DIAC is committed to providing fair and efficient dispute resolution, ensuring that all parties receive impartial outcomes.
Understanding the GAR 100 Data Report
The GAR 100 Data Report is a detailed study based on information from the annual GAR 100 guide. It examines arbitration cases from 2015 to 2023, covering more than 11,200 cases worldwide. The report gives insights into case volumes, the performance of arbitration centres, and user preferences in the field.
With this latest achievement, Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a leading global hub for arbitration, attracting businesses and investors from around the world.
