Baseball United to Build Dubai’s First Ballpark Boosting Regional Sports

Baseball United, the pioneering professional baseball league focused on the Middle East and South Asia, has announced plans to build the region's first-ever professional baseball field and ballpark in Dubai.

Located within The Sevens sports and entertainment complex on Al-Ain Road (E66), just a short drive from downtown Dubai, the new ballpark is set to mark a significant milestone in the region’s sports history. The facility, tentatively named Baseball United Ballpark, will feature cutting-edge infrastructure designed to withstand Dubai’s high temperatures.

The ballpark will be equipped with a dual fibre, synthetic turf playing surface, ensuring durability and optimal playing conditions. A state-of-the-art LED lighting system, comprising eight towers with 94 fixtures and delivering over 15 million lumens, will illuminate the field. Advanced BallTracker® technology will be incorporated to enhance the viewing experience.

The venue will have a capacity of up to 6,500 fans, with a versatile, modular seating arrangement. Fans will have access to various seating options, including the ultra-premium Diamond Club, Infield Boxes, value-priced Outfield Boxes, and exclusive VVIP On-Field Cabanas. Additionally, the ballpark will feature above-ground dugouts, foul lines, foul poles, and a professional-grade netting system. The design will also include a modern LED content wall and a traditional scoreboard reminiscent of 19th-century American baseball.

Kash Shaikh, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Baseball United, expressed excitement about the new ballpark. “Our league has brought together so many powerful ingredients to help make baseball the next great sport in the Middle East and South Asia. From our passionate fanbase and legendary co-owners to our world-class players and historic franchises, we’ve worked hard to bring the best of baseball to Dubai. The only thing missing was a place to call home. We wanted a true, purpose-built baseball ballpark that can serve as the launchpad for professional baseball across the region.”

The ballpark's dimensions will be modeled after Yankee Stadium, with fences set at 318 feet to left field, 314 feet to right field, and 408 feet to center field. The field will be named after Major League Baseball legend and Baseball United Co-Founder Barry Larkin, a 12-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove Award winner. Larkin commented, “I am truly honored to have my name associated with this historic field. It has been a dream come true to bring this league to life with Kash, John, and the entire Baseball United team.”

Construction of the ballpark will commence this week, with completion expected by the end of the year. The facility will host Baseball United’s major events next year, including the Baseball United Cup and Season One. There is also a possibility that it will host the Arab Classic national team event this November.

The new Baseball United Ballpark will be situated near the cricket ovals at The Sevens, creating the region’s first combined bat-and-ball sports complex, further elevating Dubai's status as a premier sports destination.
